Jim and Michelle’s wedding- 11-11-11, Cabo Villa Surf Ceremony & Cabo Real Reception

We were contacted by Michelle on October 24th to plan a 70 person wedding by November 11th and remember 11-11-11 was the most anticipated wedding date of the year.  What a fun challenge!  Michelle and Jim had to be the most laid back couple we have worked with to date. They sent a vision board, sent a budget and said “I trust you.”  So off we went doing our magic and quickly looking to our vendors to see whom actually was avaiable on such short notice. It was as if the stars were aligned for Jim and Michelle as we were able to find them vendors for all of their needs and vendors we love!

The happy couple had already rented out the beach front Cabo Villa Surf, located right along the Costa Azul beach in San Jose del Cabo. It worked out great as some of their friends and family also stayed right next door with in walking distance at the Mira Vista Condominiums.  They are also fortunate to have a house in the family located in beautiful Cabo Real where the reception was going to take place.

Michelle began getting ready with the help of the Cabo Surf Hotel Spa staff, whom came to her villa and did onsite services. They did a great job on her hair and make-up, but Michelle is naturally stunning so I am not sure she needed much help from anyone to look like a beautiful bride.

The ceremony was set up on the beach with a beautiful wooden walk-way topped with bright rose petals leading up to a full floral chuppah. The chuppah was stunning thanks to Blossom Art.  It is one of our favorite chuppahs to date. I think almost all the guests made sure to get their picture under and/or near the chuppah as it made a beautiful back drop no doubt!

The ceremony was officiated by Chris Johnson whom also happened to be the owner of Cabo Villa Surf. He has done tons of weddings and did a great job. After the ceremony, the guests came up to the large palapa that is nestled right next to the villas pool. Guests hung there while enjoying some cocktails and gazing on as the couple took some photos ot on the beach with photographer Dino Gomez. There happened to be an empty life guard stand that made for some fun photos of the couple.

We then shuttled the guests up to the house in Cabo Real and there the guests were able to enjoy some catered food and an open bar. The villa makes for a great entertaining villa with 2 oversized terraces, a large pool and located right on the golf course of Cabo Real with views that are breathtaking. Bliss Events, Stages and Lazy Gourmet assisted with the decorations and everything came out beautiful.

DJ Alex did his magic and kept the guests up and dancing throughout the evening. We always love our beloved Tequila entertainer that comes in with his over sized hat, tequila and pours shots for the excited guests. He is always a hit and always takes the party up a notch.

Dino Gomez was a busy man at this wedding as he provided photography, videography and the Memory Maker photo booth for the evening. The guests were able to put on some wacky costumes and jump in the booth to make for some memorable pictures.

The guests were able to enjoy fresh cigars through out the evening thanks to one of our favorite local cigar rollers coming in and setting up a table during the reception so guests could watch their cigar made right there on the spot. After some drinks, yummy food, dancing and cigars, we had Sweet Things come in and set up a variety of candy and dessert options. They did such a great job and the couple were blown away by the spread. I think they all made plates to go to enjoy for the next days to come.

What is a party by a pool with out someone going in? Well how about just about everyone going in? It only takes that first person to make the jump and next thing you know all the guests think it looks fun. The evening basically ended with guests dancing and/or swimming and just letting loose. What a great job DJ Alex did keeping the dance floor full and everyone extremelly happy.

We want to thank all of the vendors for doing a great job and pulling everything together on such short notice. The wedding was a success and we want to congratulate Jim and Michelle on their big day!

Bliss Events asked to organize the 2nd Annual Los Cabos SUP Mexico-Mike Doyle Stand Up Paddle Race November 4-6, 2011

It is always fun to do something that is off the beaten path from our traditional events. We have been asked by SUP Mexico for a second year in a row to organize the upcoming 2nd Annual Los Cabos SUP Mexico-Mike Doyle Stand Up Paddle Race that takes place on the beautiful Palmilla Beach, November 4-6, 2011 benefiting the Cabo Tortugas.  This event last year was something no one knew what to expect but after it was over, smiles were on everyone’s faces. It was so wonderful to see the community come together and give raffle prizes, sponsor the event, race in the event and come out and cheer participants on.  It is a lot of work as this is a 3 night, 2 day event that has everything from a private party for racers/sponsors, races, beach concert, live DJ, boot camp by Modu, raffles, turtle releases and a beach closing party.  By the end we will be tired but every thing is worth it seeing money raised for such a good cause and another great stand up paddle event under the belt.  This year legendary surfer Mike Doyle has signed on to be the event Ambassador which we are all very excited about.  Check out last years video to get a good taste of what this event is all about!  Click here for video

We are well under way in planning this years event and looking forward to making it bigger and better.  If you are in town or a local, come out and join us. As the event mission states, IT IS TIME TO GIVE BACK!!!!

We hope to see you there ~ Kym

Tracy & Leo´s Wedding August 2010 @ Zoetry Casa Del Mar…When weddings turn in to one heck of a party!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

As a wedding planner, I love when a couple comes along that is so laid back but still wants to kick everything up a notch.  Enter Tracy & Leo in to my life. I was introduced to them by a dear friend of mine and am so thankful for the introduction as it was one of my favorite weddings of all time.  When I say that the normal response is why so?  Their wedding day consisted of everything. Traditions, family photos, pre cocktails, beach ceremony, beautiful cocktail hour and then………the evening took a turn.  Is was almost like somone had their hand on the ”fun” switch and said, up…up….up….up….almost there!

Zoetry Casa Del Mar is such a beautiful resort to host a wedding. It has everything you could want with stunning decor, a beautiful view with a large beach, a very hacienda feel to it, quaint and smaller then most resorts in town. The onsite coordinator David Ruiz did such a great job along with the rest of the staff, making our jobs much easier.

Tracy and Leo´s wedding day began by relaxing at the pool with all of 100 of their guests. Their guest list took up the entire hotel ensuring that they got to spend some quality time with their loved one´s through out the day.  The time came when they were off to got ready.  Tracy hired Suzanne Morel and team to do her and her soon to be step daughters hair. The both looked absolutely stunning!  Once they were ready, they gathered to get photographs around the resort and with thier families.  They hired local photographer Manuel Burgoin whom as always did a fabulous job.  Once the photos were finished, they met up with their guests in the bar for a pre-cocktail drink and some small talk…..then it was time to begin!

The ceremony area consisted of a beautiful custom chuppah built by Del Cabo Events and wooden benches that were decorated with different colored maracas created by Mishka Designs and tied with a tag that said “shake at the kiss”.  Evian misters and parasols were passed out to guests as they arrived to provide shading and a cold mister to cool them down on this hot August day.  The ceremony was beautiful and the happy couple kissed as the maracas were shook by all their guests and cheers were belted out. They topped it off with rose petals being tossed as they exited the ceremony.  It was perfect!

Cocktail hour was enjoyed up on a terrace that was under shaded trees and music was played by DJ Alex.  DJ Alex always knows how to get the guests in the mood for the rest of the evening to come.    After some delicious food and fantastic speeches, the dotting bride had a big surprise for Leo.  She had a fireworks pyro show set to “Ain´t No Other Man” by Christina Aguilara.  The song was so fitting and the groom was grinning ear to ear as he kissed and hugged his new wife under the glowing sky.  All I know is that this was when the evening took a turn.  Kilometro Band started their first set and this opened up the dance floor to everyone.  Everyone was showing off their moves until a whistle was heard and a big man wearing a oversized sombrero was heard.  The crowd turned and who was there?  Our favorite tequila pourer in all of Los Cabos, Big Johnson.  He came in blowing his whistle and pouring tequila first to the bride and groom and then to all the guests. Then our staff went hard to work opening up the props chest and giving each and every guests a few things to wear for the evening. We had everythign from glow necklaces, somberos, oversized glasses, blow up guitars, boa´s, mustaches to wigs.  They were such a hit that we noticed even the serious of folk got in to the spirit and wore their items with pride!

With all the dancing and the heat from the air it was like the pool was calling everyone´s name.  The bride was smart and brought a swim suit down to the party as she knew her guests would be going in to the pool.  Boy was she right.  I would say 100 out of 110 guests went in to the pool including the Bliss staff and Manuel the photographer.  It became a game of who wasn´t in the pool yet and whom needed to be.  Unless you left the party, you were going in!

It was almost time to cut the cake when the pool soaked bride and groom looked at me and said…..it is so hot out, the cake topper is falling off the cake and it is melting.  They basically said right then and then screw it, did a quick cutting of the cake and then all of a sudden they were both biting the cake. Next thing we know, it is a cake throwing contest!  Guests got invovled and loved every minute of it .   Luckily our staff designed a candy and dessert bar that the guests inhaled. Deena, from Sweet Dreams bakery made some adorable cake pops that we put in to buckets and topped with brown sugar to look like sand. The guests for the most part had enver seen them and were very intrigued by the creations and loved them.

The party was winding down and guests were leaving laughing, crying so hard from laughing about stories from the evening, drenched and on a tequila high.  Oh, we knew there were going to be some tired people in the morning.  The Bliss staff had so much fun that we did not want the evening to end.  We want to thank Tracy and Leo for being so wonderful to work with and just being who they are. They are a beautiful couple that are loved by so many.  We want to thank all the vendors for helping us with the evening and for making it a perfect day for Tracy, Leo, their family and all their guests.

Cheers to the happy couple!

Planning a wedding in Cabo- Why it is a great choice

Getting married in Cabo……you cannot go wrong!

Los Cabos is an amazing place to get married. We find that the couple and the guests leave here with so many wonderful memories and are itching to come back.

When couples first think…..why not Cabo?  We get so many calls of couples that have recently gotten engaged ask us “how much does a wedding cost?”  I am always blown away by that question as there is just no way I can aswer it with a single number or word.  Cabo has so many options for weddings allowing couples no matter their budget, to have a wedding of their dreams.  Although we do find that people are fooled in to thinking that this is Mexico so it will be cheap, yet is just not the case.  Cabo is based on tourism, has a large ex patriot community, large english speaking community and most businesses make their money of you, the tourist.  So, prices reflect that.  That is where wedding planners come in. We know all the providers/vendors and can help you choose the options that are best suited for your needs.

We truly have so many wedding providers that are well known and highly respected.  Unless you really want a certain friend or vendor from back home to be a part of your big day, just remember, we have everything you need right here in Los Cabos to make it perfect. From photographers, bands, DJs, Salsa dancers, fireworks, bakers, planners, etc…..you can make it all happen with local vendors.  They are trustworthy, do a great job and are very dependable. We promise you.

There is definitely a common theme for those wanting to get married here. 1.  It is a beach destination and the couple want to get married with sand under their feet. 2.  It is close to the US and the flights are not long.  3.  The beaches & resorts are beautiful.  4.  Los Cabos offers endless activities for their guests such as diving, snorkeling, boat cruises, swimming with dolphins, ATV’s, golf, Zip lining, horse back riding, city tours, etc.  5. The couple is laid back and a destination wedding seems more fitting for them. 6.  They love Mexico and know it is a great place to host a wedding.  Honestly, we know from the get go that couples whom are willing to have a destination wedding are more laid back……so we have fun working with them on their dream day.

So, if you are looking for a beautiful place to get married, love Mexico, want tons of things to do for your guests, Cabo is your place. We promise you will not regret it.  Happy planning!
